"I'll give you money"
It was a very interesting thing that I realized today...
Today was the presentations for our tradeshow projects for the engineering design course. Steve, Dante and I (part of MEX-CAN LTD..haha) presented our concepts for the scales. I was so surprised at how little people tried to solve the weight scale problem. I'm happy though...we get less competition...
HAHA...it's sad how our group is one group number from the winners of the last design competition. Last time, no one even paid attention to our group because we went right after the group that impressed EVERYONE....and today I thought we impressed the instructor with our ideas. I even pulled some of my 'popcorn selling' marketing skills...haha...I'm sorry Dante and Steve....I talked too much...BUT! Afterwards, the group that won last time blew us away by ALREADY making a working model....MAN...this sucks....
Other than that....Before the presentations the prof/instructor came late to the class in a little bit of a panic. He was then looking frantically for a pen and just freaked out because he didn't have one. I was going to give him my pen and before I could say anything he just said "I'll give you some money"....I was just suddenly shocked....I wasn't even gonna ask for money...I was just going to lend him my pen...or even give it to him because it was a lousy papermate that I don't like. When that was presented I just told him to keep it because I didn't like the pen anyway...and told him I didn't want the money...
However...it just shocked me....because the instructor was so quick to wave money in my face....and in some ways...it makes me think....does he really always have to give someone money in the class to do something (he paid someone 20 bucks to just get the class to settle before)....
At first...some may say that "WOW...he has a lot of money...and he doesn't care about it at all"...However I wonder....does he have such a great view of money that he thinks that this is the only way he will able to get something done? DO WE THINK THAT MONEY IS WHAT WILL CONVINCE ANYONE TO DO SOMETHING? Can we be bought?
It's said that everyone has a price...and for me...I have no idea.....it just makes me think about how much importance I put on material things....I know there is more to life than money...however...living in this society...it's easy to be drawn into all this materialism and money....
However....there's more to life...and if you wanna know what it is...haha ask me..I'll try to tell you the best I can.....=)
